Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) in Newport Beach

Sculpted Volume. Natural Shape. No Implants.

Enhance your curves with a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) that puts natural-looking volume, refined contour and balanced proportions first. At Beyond Restore in Newport Beach, you can choose between two approaches: an awake fat-transfer BBL that uses your own fat, performed by Dr. Andrew Jarminski, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon, and Dr. Paris Sabo, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon, or a non-surgical Sculptra BBL, also performed by Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo, that stimulates your body’s own collagen. Both are done while you are awake, without implants, IV sedation or general anesthesia. Each plan is tailored to your anatomy, the fat you have available and your goals, all in a concierge setting. It starts with a free consultation.

What Is a Brazilian Butt Lift?

A Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) is a body contouring procedure that enhances the volume, projection and shape of the buttocks. Despite the name, a BBL does not lift or remove skin the way a surgical lift does. Instead, it adds volume, using either your own fat or a collagen-stimulating injectable, so the buttocks look fuller and more lifted. Neither option uses a synthetic implant.

In a fat-transfer BBL, fat is first harvested from donor areas such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs with our awake 3-in-1 technique: VASER to help loosen the fat, HD Liposculpture to remove it with a power-assisted cannula, and Renuvion J-Plasma to help tighten the skin, so those areas are contoured at the same time. The fat is then purified and placed in the buttocks, and in the hips when appropriate, to improve shape and proportion. A Sculptra BBL skips liposculpture: Sculptra (poly-L-lactic acid) is injected into the buttocks to stimulate your body’s own collagen and build volume gradually.

At Beyond Restore, every BBL is planned around your anatomy, your safety and a natural-looking result, with medical oversight from consultation through recovery.

What Concerns Can a Brazilian Butt Lift Improve?

A BBL can help address:

  • Flat or underdeveloped buttocks
  • Loss of volume from aging or weight changes
  • Asymmetry or imbalance in buttock shape
  • Hip dips or contour irregularities
  • Little curve between the waist, hips and buttocks
  • Extra fat in areas such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs that you would like reduced (fat-transfer BBL)
  • Crepey skin texture in the buttock area, which a Sculptra BBL may help improve as collagen builds

Significant loose or sagging skin may need a different procedure. We’ll talk through your options at your consultation.

How a BBL Works at Beyond Restore

Fat-Transfer BBL

  • Step 1, liposculpture: The donor areas, such as the abdomen, flanks, lower back or thighs, are numbed with a tumescent local anesthetic solution, and fat is harvested with our 3-in-1 technique: VASER uses ultrasound energy to help loosen the fat, HD Liposculpture removes it with a power-assisted cannula, and Renuvion J-Plasma helps tighten the skin over the donor areas. Slimming these areas is part of the result, so the waist can look smaller next to fuller buttocks.
  • Step 2, purification: The collected fat is processed to separate the fat cells from excess fluid.
  • Step 3, transfer: The fat is placed only in the subcutaneous layer, above the gluteal muscle, into the buttocks and the hips when appropriate, in small amounts through small incisions to shape volume, projection and symmetry.

Sculptra BBL

Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable (poly-L-lactic acid) that activates your body’s natural collagen production. Placed in specific zones of the buttocks by Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo, it gradually increases volume and can improve skin quality. It can be a good fit for leaner patients who don’t have enough fat to transfer, or for anyone who prefers a subtle, non-surgical enhancement. A Sculptra BBL needs at least 2 sessions. Sculptra’s FDA approval covers facial wrinkles, so its use in the buttocks is off-label. alloClae, prepared donor fat tissue placed in 1 session, is another option.

Benefits of a BBL at Beyond Restore

Fuller, Balanced Curves Without Implants

Using your own fat or your body’s collagen response, a BBL adds volume without a synthetic implant, with results tailored to your frame.

Awake Procedure, No General Anesthesia

Our fat-transfer BBL is performed under local anesthesia, so you stay awake and avoid the risks specific to general anesthesia. It is still surgery, and recovery takes time; we’ll walk you through every step.

Options for Lean and Curvy Body Types

Whether you have enough fat to transfer or would prefer a non-surgical Sculptra BBL, your treatment is customized to your anatomy and volume goals.

Long-Lasting Results

Fat-transfer results are long-lasting. Once transferred fat cells establish a blood supply they generally remain, though weight changes and aging can affect results. Sculptra BBL results typically last 1 to 2 years, and maintenance sessions may be recommended. A Sculptra BBL needs at least 2 sessions. Individual results vary.

Surgeon-Led, Anatomy-Based Planning

Your fat-transfer BBL or Sculptra BBL is performed by Dr. Andrew Jarminski, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon, or by Dr. Paris Sabo, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon. Each plan is built around your anatomy, your safety and the balance of your whole figure.

Concierge-Level Aftercare and Support

Your recovery plan may include compression garments, lymphatic massage and IV vitamin therapy, along with follow-up visits to check your healing.

Fat-Transfer BBL, Sculptra BBL or alloClae: Comparing Your Options

We offer more than one way to add volume to the buttocks and hips. Here’s how the options compare in general terms; your consultation is where we match one to your body.

  • Fat-transfer BBL: uses your own fat, harvested under local anesthesia with our awake 3-in-1 technique (VASER, HD Liposculpture and Renuvion J-Plasma), so it also slims the donor areas. You need enough spare fat. It takes about 4 to 6 hours in our onsite surgical suite. Volume is visible right away and settles as swelling resolves over about 3 months. Plan on no sitting for 6 to 8 weeks. Results are long-lasting: once transferred fat cells establish a blood supply they generally remain, though weight changes and aging can affect results.
  • Sculptra BBL: non-surgical injections of poly-L-lactic acid, performed by Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo, that stimulate your own collagen. No liposculpture or spare fat is needed, and it takes at least 2 sessions. Volume builds gradually, starting in about 4-6 weeks, with the full result in about 3 months, and typically lasts 1 to 2 years. Avoid direct pressure for 3 to 5 days. Use in the buttocks is off-label.
  • alloClae: donated human fat tissue, processed and ready to use, placed under the skin in 1 session, without liposculpture. The manufacturer says volume is visible immediately and most people resume normal activity in 24-48 hours. It may suit patients who want subtle volume in the hips or buttocks but don’t have much fat to spare.

BBL Treatment Process: What to Expect

We provide concierge-level care from consultation to recovery, so you feel confident, informed and supported at every step.

Before Your Treatment

Your BBL experience begins with an in-depth free consultation at our Newport Beach clinic. We assess your goals, anatomy, health history and fat availability to determine the right approach: an awake fat-transfer BBL or a Sculptra BBL. Your evaluation may include lab work and other health screening. If you’re pursuing fat transfer, we’ll also identify donor areas such as the abdomen, flanks or thighs.

You’ll receive detailed pre-treatment instructions, which may include avoiding blood-thinning medications and supplements, stopping smoking and nicotine, nutritional guidance, and arranging for someone to drive you home after a fat-transfer BBL.

During the Procedure

Awake Fat-Transfer BBL: You’ll stay awake the whole time under local anesthesia (tumescent solution). We do not use IV sedation or general anesthesia. Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo harvests fat with our 3-in-1 technique (VASER to help loosen it, HD Liposculpture with a power-assisted cannula to remove it, and Renuvion J-Plasma to help tighten the skin over the donor areas), then purifies it and places it back in small amounts, layer by layer, only in the subcutaneous layer above the gluteal muscle, to shape volume and symmetry. A fat-transfer BBL takes about 4 to 6 hours and is performed in our onsite surgical suite.

Sculptra BBL: Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo injects Sculptra in a grid-like pattern across targeted zones of the buttocks to stimulate collagen and gradually increase firmness and projection. You stay awake. Numbing cream or a local anesthetic is used. There is no IV sedation or general anesthesia. Plan on at least 2 sessions.

Aftercare and Recovery

  • Expect swelling, soreness and possible bruising in both the donor and treatment areas.
  • After a fat-transfer BBL, you’ll wear a compression garment on the donor areas to help control swelling and support your new contours. Wear it as directed.
  • After a fat-transfer BBL, plan on no sitting for 6 to 8 weeks. That means not sitting on your buttocks, and sleeping on your stomach or side. Your care team will show you how to rest and may recommend a special cushion. After a Sculptra BBL, avoid direct pressure on the buttocks for 3 to 5 days.
  • After a fat-transfer BBL, many patients resume light activity, such as walking, within one week. Your surgeon will tell you when you can return to exercise.
  • Follow-up visits let your care team check your healing.

Post-procedure support, such as IV vitamin therapy and lymphatic massage, is available and may help you feel more comfortable during recovery.

BBL Safety and Risks

A fat-transfer BBL is real surgery, and like any surgery it carries risks. Common, usually temporary effects include swelling, bruising, soreness and numbness. Other risks include infection, bleeding, fluid buildup (seroma), blood clots, contour irregularities or asymmetry in the donor or treatment areas, loss of some of the transferred fat (which can mean less volume than you hoped for and a possible second session), fat necrosis (areas of fat that do not survive and may form firm lumps or oil cysts), scarring at the small incision sites, and risks related to anesthesia. Avoiding general anesthesia reduces certain anesthesia-related risks, but it does not eliminate surgical risk.

The most serious risk associated with gluteal fat grafting is fat embolism, which can happen if fat enters the large veins deep in the buttock. At Beyond Restore, fat is placed only in the subcutaneous layer, above the gluteal muscle, and not into or beneath the muscle. Choosing an experienced surgeon, sharing your full health history, and following your pre- and post-procedure instructions all help lower your risk.

A Sculptra BBL is non-surgical but still has risks, including swelling, tenderness and bruising at the injection sites, small bumps or nodules under the skin, uneven results and infection. Sculptra’s FDA approval covers facial wrinkles, so its use in the buttocks is off-label.

Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo will review your individual risks, and how we work to reduce them, during your consultation. Results vary, and no surgeon can guarantee a specific outcome.

Results Timeline & Longevity

Fat-Transfer BBL:

  • Initial volume is visible right away, but swelling can hide your final shape at first.
  • Some of the transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed while you heal. Over about 3 months, as swelling resolves, the fat cells that have established a blood supply generally remain.
  • Results are long-lasting, though weight changes and aging can affect your shape. Some patients choose a second session for more volume or symmetry.

Sculptra BBL:

  • Gradual improvement begins within about 4-6 weeks as collagen builds.
  • Full results develop over about 3 months and typically last 1 to 2 years. Maintenance sessions may be recommended. A Sculptra BBL needs at least 2 sessions.

Individual results vary. A few patient photos are below, and more BBL photos are in the Body tab of our gallery.

Who Is a Good Candidate for a BBL?

A BBL may be a good fit if you:

  • Want to enhance your shape with natural volume, not synthetic implants
  • Have enough fat to harvest (for a fat-transfer BBL) or prefer collagen stimulation (for a Sculptra BBL)
  • Are looking for proportional, natural-looking enhancement rather than a dramatic transformation
  • Prefer an awake procedure without general anesthesia
  • Are in good general health, at a stable weight, and don’t smoke or are willing to stop
  • Can follow the recovery plan, including no sitting for 6 to 8 weeks after a fat-transfer BBL and wearing compression as directed
  • Have realistic expectations, including that some transferred fat may be reabsorbed

A BBL may not be right for you if you have:

  • Certain bleeding disorders or active autoimmune flare-ups
  • Very low body fat (for fat transfer only; a Sculptra BBL or alloClae may still be options)
  • Uncontrolled medical conditions that affect healing
  • Expectations of exaggerated volume or “trendy” silhouettes

Your consultation includes a health screening and body assessment so we can recommend an approach that fits your health, anatomy and goals.

Frequently Asked Questions About Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)

How is a BBL at Beyond Restore different from a traditional BBL?

Many traditional BBLs are performed under general anesthesia. At Beyond Restore, a fat-transfer BBL is always performed awake under local (tumescent) anesthesia, with no IV sedation or general anesthesia, in our onsite surgical suite. Dr. Andrew Jarminski, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon, or Dr. Paris Sabo, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon, harvests fat with our 3-in-1 technique (VASER, HD Liposculpture and Renuvion J-Plasma) and places it in small amounts, only in the subcutaneous layer above the gluteal muscle. The procedure takes about 4 to 6 hours. We also offer a non-surgical Sculptra BBL, performed by Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo in at least 2 sessions, for patients who don’t have enough fat to transfer or who prefer a gradual change. Every plan is customized around your anatomy, your safety and your goals.

Often, yes. If you don’t have enough fat for a fat-transfer BBL, a Sculptra BBL may be an option. Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo performs it, and it needs at least 2 sessions. It gradually builds collagen to improve volume and skin quality without fat harvesting. alloClae, which uses prepared donor fat tissue and takes 1 session, is another option we can discuss at your consultation.

After a fat-transfer BBL, plan on no sitting for 6 to 8 weeks, including not lying on your buttocks. Many patients resume light activity, such as walking, within one week. Your surgeon will tell you when you can return to exercise. A Sculptra BBL has a shorter recovery: avoid direct pressure on the buttocks for 3 to 5 days, and many patients return to normal activity within a few days. Swelling, soreness and light bruising are common and temporary.

Fat-transfer results are long-lasting. Once transferred fat cells establish a blood supply they generally remain, though weight changes and aging can affect results. Sculptra results typically last 1 to 2 years, and maintenance sessions may be recommended. A Sculptra BBL needs at least 2 sessions.

Cost depends on the type of BBL (fat transfer or Sculptra), how much volume you need and the donor areas treated. During your consultation, we’ll provide a personalized, itemized quote so you know what’s included before you decide. Financing is available through PatientFi, CareCredit and Cherry.

Often, yes. Many patients combine a BBL with HD Liposculpture of additional areas or with natural breast augmentation using fat transfer (fat for both is harvested with the same 3-in-1 technique), and some pair it with wellness services such as hormone optimization. We’ll discuss whether combining procedures is right for you during your consultation.

Plan on no sitting for 6 to 8 weeks while the transferred fat heals. That means not sitting on your buttocks and sleeping on your stomach or side. When you need to rest, follow your surgeon’s instructions, which may include a special cushion. You’ll also wear a compression garment on the donor areas as directed.

Every surgery carries risk. For a fat-transfer BBL, risks include swelling, bruising, numbness, infection, bleeding, fluid buildup, blood clots, contour irregularities or asymmetry, loss of transferred fat or fat necrosis, scarring at the incision sites, and anesthesia-related risks. The most serious risk of gluteal fat grafting is fat embolism. At Beyond Restore, fat is placed only above the gluteal muscle, in the subcutaneous layer. A Sculptra BBL can cause swelling, bruising, nodules or uneven results, and its use in the buttocks is off-label. Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo will review your individual risks during your consultation.

Sculptra is FDA-approved for correcting facial wrinkles. Using it in the buttocks is off-label, which means Dr. Jarminski or Dr. Sabo may choose to use it this way based on medical judgment, but this use is not part of its FDA-approved labeling. We’ll explain what that means for you during your consultation.
