What Is a Facelift?
Facelift Treatment Areas and Concerns
A facelift addresses age-related changes in the lower face and neck, such as:
- Sagging skin around the cheeks and jawline (jowls)
- Deep creases from the nose to the mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Skin laxity and banding in the neck
- Loss of definition in the jawline
- Pockets of fat under the chin or along the neck
How It Works
1. The Foundation Weakens
Your skin is supported by collagen, fat, and muscle, holding everything in place. As you age, that structure weakens, and the skin begins to sag.
2. Targeting the SMAS Layer
A facelift lifts and tightens the SMAS layer (the underlying facial structure), which restores facial contours and reduces drooping.
3. Repositioning Skin and Fat
Excess skin is removed or repositioned, and fat may be sculpted to refine the jawline and smooth out creases for natural, balanced results.
4. Mini vs. Full Facelift
Mini facelifts use smaller incisions and are great for early signs of aging. If you’re seeing more advanced sagging or neck banding, a full facelift with a neck lift offers more dramatic rejuvenation.
5. Advanced Techniques, Minimal Scarring
Dr. Hojjat uses advanced tools and techniques to ensure treatment is as refined as it is effective. Discreet incisions—typically hidden along the hairline or behind the ears—allow for smoother healing and a more natural finish.
Facelift Benefits
Facial aging has a way of showing up before we feel it. Here’s why patients love their results:
Smooth, Lifted Contours
Repositions sagging skin and tissues for a more defined jawline and refreshed appearance—so you look as vibrant as you feel.
Wrinkle Reduction with Staying Power
Say goodbye to those deep creases and tired lines. A facelift softens wrinkles by addressing their root cause: structural laxity.
Subtle, Natural-Looking Results
No overdone Hollywood look here. With a focus on facial harmony and natural contours, Dr. Hojjat ensures your results feel familiar, just more elevated in all the right ways.
Minimally Invasive Techniques
Smaller incisions, smarter tools, and expert hands mean less trauma to your skin—and a smoother recovery.
Hidden Scars, Visible Confidence
Strategically placed incisions along the hairline and around the ears keep your secret safe. Most patients can cover swelling and bruising with their hair.
Long-Lasting Improvements
While no surgery can stop aging, a facelift can turn back time by 8–10 years. With good skincare and healthy habits, your results can last for a decade or more.
What to Expect Before, During, and After a Facelift
Before
Your journey begins with a personalized consultation, where Dr. Hojjat will assess your skin, facial structure, and aging pattern to recommend the best approach—whether that’s a mini facelift, full facelift, or a combination with a neck lift. You’ll also receive tailored pre-op instructions.
During
Facelift procedures are typically performed under local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery. Dr. Hojjat makes small, precise incisions around the ears and hairline to access and lift the underlying tissues. The procedure usually takes 2–4 hours.
After
Most patients experience swelling, tightness, and mild bruising, which subsides in 1–2 weeks. You’ll be given detailed post-op care instructions and support for your recovery. Sutures are usually removed in about a week, and most patients feel ready to resume light activity within 10–14 days.
Results Timeline
You’ll see initial results once the swelling begins to go down, usually within 2 weeks. Final results appear over the next 2–3 months as the tissues settle and heal.
Is a Facelift Right for Me?
A facelift might be right for you if:
- You’re bothered by sagging skin, jowls, or deep wrinkles in the lower face
- You’re in generally good health and don’t smoke
- You want more lasting results than fillers or threads can offer
- You have realistic expectations and want to look like yourself, just rejuvenated
Dr. Hojjat also offers limited-incision options (mini facelifts) for younger patients or those with minimal skin laxity. During your consultation, he’ll help you determine the right path based on your age, anatomy, and goals.
