What Is Jeuveau?

Jeuveau is FDA-approved for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows (glabellar lines) in adults. Unlike Botox and Dysport, which also have medical approvals, that cosmetic use is its only FDA approval. It’s a quick, in-office treatment with no surgery, and results are temporary, so treatments are repeated to maintain them.
What Can Jeuveau Treat?
FDA-approved cosmetic use (adults):
- Moderate to severe frown lines between the brows (the “11s,” or glabellar lines)

Jeuveau softens lines caused by movement. It doesn’t replace lost volume or tighten loose skin; for volume, dermal fillers may fit better.
How Jeuveau Works
Jeuveau temporarily blocks the release of acetylcholine, the chemical signal that tells a muscle to contract. With the targeted muscles more relaxed, the skin over them creases less, and lines caused by repeated frowning look smoother.

What to Expect at Your Jeuveau Visit
Whether it’s your first neuromodulator treatment or you’re switching from another product, here’s how a Jeuveau visit usually goes.
Before Your Treatment
It starts with a free consultation. Your provider looks at how your brows and face move, reviews your medical history, medications and any past neuromodulator treatments, and builds a dosing plan around your anatomy and goals.
In the 24 hours before treatment, we typically ask you to avoid alcohol and heavy workouts, and to pause blood-thinning medications or supplements only if your prescribing clinician agrees it’s safe.
During Your Treatment
Your provider cleanses your skin and uses an ultra-fine needle to place small amounts of Jeuveau into the targeted muscles. The injections take about 10 to 15 minutes, and you stay upright and relaxed. Most people feel a brief pinch, and numbing is available on request.
After Your Treatment
Minor swelling or pinpoint redness usually fades within hours. For about 24 hours:
- Don’t massage or rub the treated area.
- Avoid lying flat.
- Skip intense exercise.
Most people go straight back to work or errands. We’ll give you aftercare instructions before you leave.
Possible Side Effects
Jeuveau is a prescription medicine, and like any injectable it has risks. Common, usually temporary effects include redness, swelling, tenderness or bruising at the injection points, headache, and cold-like symptoms. Less often, a nearby muscle can be affected, causing a temporary droopy eyelid or brow or uneven results.
Rarely, the effect of botulinum toxin can spread beyond the injection area hours to weeks after treatment. Get medical help right away if you have trouble swallowing, speaking or breathing, new muscle weakness, or vision problems after treatment, and call us with any other symptom that worries you.
Your provider will review your health history and these risks with you before treatment.
