What to Expect From a PDO Threadlift
Before
It starts with a free consultation. We’ll look at your facial anatomy, talk through your goals and decide whether threads fit. Share your medications and health history at your consultation. You’ll get instructions to follow before your visit.
During
PDO threadlifts are performed by our RNs, NPs and physicians. Comfort options include a topical numbing cream, lidocaine injections and Pro-Nox (nitrous oxide), and you’ll choose together at your consultation. The treatment area is numbed first. The threads are then placed under the skin with a fine needle or cannula along the lines mapped out in your plan. Many people feel pressure or a tugging sensation. Treatment usually takes about 30 to 60 minutes.
After
Mild swelling, bruising, tenderness and a feeling of tightness are common at first. Most people go back to their normal activities the same day, but you should avoid workouts, facial massage and big facial expressions for about a week. You’ll get aftercare instructions to follow at home.
Possible Side Effects and Risks
Swelling, bruising, tenderness and a tight or pulling feeling are common at first. Other possible side effects and risks include:
- Dimpling, puckering, uneven or asymmetric results
- A thread you can see or feel under the skin
- A thread working its way out through the skin
- Infection at the entry points
- Rarely, nerve irritation, numbness or injury to deeper structures
