Natural Breast Augmentation with Fat Transfer

Your shape, reimagined—naturally.

With Natural Breast Augmentation at Beyond Restore, we remove excess fat from areas like the abdomen or thighs with our 3-in-1 technique (VASER, HD Liposculpture and Renuvion J-Plasma) and use it to add soft, natural-looking volume to your breasts. This procedure is performed by fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeons Dr. Andrew Jarminski and Dr. Paris Sabo, and by Dr. Natalie Joumblat, whose practice focuses on cosmetic breast surgery. It enhances your breasts using your own body fat: no implants, the option to stay awake under local anesthesia, and typically less downtime than implant surgery. Just sculpted curves where you want them most.

What Is Natural Breast Augmentation?

Natural breast augmentation, also known as fat transfer breast augmentation, is a surgical procedure that enhances the size, shape, and overall appearance of your breasts. Using our 3-in-1 technique (VASER, HD Liposculpture and Renuvion J-Plasma), your surgeon harvests fat from areas like the abdomen, thighs, or waistline bulges, and then strategically injects it into the breast tissue. Because this technique uses your own fat, there is no implant involved, which makes it an appealing alternative for those seeking subtle, natural-looking enhancement.

Fat transfer and implants are different procedures. Fat transfer typically provides a natural-looking increase. Many patients see about one cup size of growth, and some see more, depending on how much fat is available and how much the body keeps. How much of the transferred fat survives varies from person to person. Implants add a planned, measured amount of volume and can create a larger change, but they involve a device that needs long-term monitoring. If you are weighing both options, see our breast augmentation with silicone or saline implants page.

Targeted Areas and Concerns

Natural fat transfer breast augmentation can help address:

  • Naturally small or underdeveloped breasts
  • Age-related volume loss
  • Uneven or asymmetrical breasts
  • Loss of fullness after pregnancy or weight loss
  • Flat or deflated appearance

How It Works

Natural Breast Augmentation removes fat where you don’t want it and adds it where you do, in one procedure.

Step 1: Remove Fat Where You Don’t Want It

We start by harvesting fat from a donor area, like your abdomen, thighs, or flanks, with our 3-in-1 technique: VASER uses ultrasound energy to help loosen the fat, HD Liposculpture removes it with a power-assisted cannula while sculpting the donor area, and Renuvion J-Plasma helps tighten the skin there. The harvest is also designed to help preserve the viability of the fat cells for transfer.

Step 2: Enhance the Breasts Naturally

Once purified, your fat is carefully injected into the breasts in small amounts, layer by layer, to build natural-looking volume and shape. At Beyond Restore, this procedure is always performed awake under local anesthesia, without general anesthesia, so you avoid the grogginess that can follow it.

The goal? A fuller, more youthful silhouette that looks and feels like you.

Natural Breast Augmentation Benefits

One Surgery, Double the Reward

You slim down where you want to lose fat and enhance the areas you want to fill out. It’s a subtract-and-add approach to body contouring in one procedure.

No Implant Required

No silicone. No saline. Just your own fat. That means no implant that could rupture or develop capsular contracture, and no implant to monitor or replace later. Fat transfer has its own risks, which your surgeon will review with you.

A Typically Shorter Recovery

Forget weeks of downtime: many patients return to desk work within a few days, though recovery varies. And because the procedure is always done awake under local anesthesia, you avoid the risks specific to general anesthesia.

Natural Look and Feel

Your body, your fat, your curves. Because this is your own tissue, the added volume is designed to look and feel soft and natural, not stiff or overdone.

Minimally Invasive

Fat is harvested with our 3-in-1 technique and placed through tiny incisions. When the procedure is done awake under local anesthesia, it is performed in our onsite surgical suite, without the need for a hospital stay or IV sedation.

Precision Contouring

HD Liposculpture isn’t just about removing fat, it’s about sculpting definition. We don’t just take fat; we aim to refine the shape of the donor area at the same time, and Renuvion J-Plasma helps tighten the skin there.

Natural Breast Augmentation Process: What To Expect

Before

Every procedure begins with a one-on-one consultation with your surgeon, who will evaluate your goals, assess donor areas, and design a custom plan that aligns with your body type and aesthetic vision. Before treatment, you may be asked to avoid blood-thinning medications and stay well hydrated. Fasting is not required for awake procedures; your care team will give you instructions specific to your plan.

During

You’ll arrive at our Newport Beach clinic for an outpatient procedure. After numbing the area with a tumescent solution, your surgeon harvests fat with our 3-in-1 technique (VASER, HD Liposculpture with a power-assisted cannula, and Renuvion J-Plasma); you may also receive medication to help you relax. That fat is then purified and injected into the breasts in small amounts. The entire process typically takes about 4 to 6 hours.

After

Expect minor swelling, bruising, and soreness in both the donor and injection sites. Compression garments may be worn on the donor areas for support, and you’ll be asked to avoid pressure on your breasts while the transferred fat heals. Many patients return to light activity and desk work within a few days, while strenuous exercise is typically limited for a few weeks. You’ll have follow-up visits so your surgical team can check your healing.

Results Timeline

You’ll notice initial fullness right away, but final results often develop over about 3-6 months as swelling subsides and transferred fat settles. Some of the transferred fat is naturally reabsorbed during healing, and how much survives varies from person to person. Fat that establishes a blood supply generally behaves like the rest of your body fat, so it can change with weight gain or loss, and normal aging continues. Some patients choose a second session for more volume or symmetry.

Individual results vary. To see examples, browse the fat transfer breast augmentation before-and-after photos in our gallery.

Risks and Mammogram Considerations

Every surgery carries risks, including infection, bleeding, and anesthesia-related risks. Risks specific to fat transfer include fat necrosis (areas of transferred fat that do not survive and may form firm lumps), oil cysts, calcifications, asymmetry, contour irregularities at the donor site, and the possibility that you will want another session to reach your goal. Fat grafting can show up on mammograms, so tell your radiologist that you have had fat transfer to the breasts, and follow your doctor’s guidance on breast cancer screening. Your surgeon will review these risks with you.

Is Natural Breast Augmentation Right For Me?

This procedure may be a great fit if:

  • You want a natural-looking enhancement, often about one cup size and sometimes more
  • You prefer a natural look and feel without implants
  • You have sufficient fat in donor areas
  • You’re in generally good health
  • You’re at a stable weight
  • You have realistic expectations about how much of the transferred fat will remain

This treatment may not be ideal if you:

  • Are seeking a dramatic size increase
  • Have minimal body fat available for transfer
  • Smoke or have underlying health issues that affect healing

Still unsure? That’s what our free consultations are for. We’ll walk you through every step to help you decide if this is the right path for you.

Questions? We have answers!

How much fat do I need for a natural breast augmentation?

It depends on your goals, your breast and chest anatomy, and how much donor fat you have. During your consultation, we’ll assess whether you have enough fat available and how much can safely be transferred.

Not all transferred fat survives, and some is reabsorbed during the first few months. Fat that survives generally behaves like other fat in your body, so it can change with weight gain or loss and with normal aging. Proper post-care and avoiding pressure on the breasts can help support retention, and some patients choose a second session.

Common donor areas include the abdomen, flanks (love handles), thighs, lower back, and arms. We’ll choose based on your goals, your available fat, and the contouring you’d like in those areas. The fat is harvested with our 3-in-1 technique (VASER, HD Liposculpture and Renuvion J-Plasma), so the donor areas are contoured as part of the same procedure.

Often, yes. Natural Breast Augmentation can be paired with procedures such as a tummy tuck when appropriate. Renuvion J-Plasma skin tightening of the donor areas is already part of the 3-in-1 technique used to harvest the fat. We’ll build a custom plan that fits your overall aesthetic vision.

You should avoid high-impact workouts for at least 2–3 weeks. Light walking is encouraged early on, and we’ll guide you through when it’s safe to resume your regular routine.

Fat transfer uses your own tissue, placed through small incisions, and typically provides a more modest increase; how much of the fat survives varies. Implants add a planned, measured amount of volume and can create a larger change, but they involve a device that needs long-term monitoring and may require future surgery. We offer both, and your consultation is the place to compare them.
