Vaginal dryness that doesn’t go away. Discomfort during sex that wasn’t there before. Changes after having a baby, or as menopause arrives, that leave you feeling less like yourself. These concerns are common, and they are also some of the hardest to bring up, even with a doctor you trust.
At Beyond Restore, we offer the OMG-Shot in Newport Beach, an in-office platelet-rich plasma (PRP) injection for intimate areas, given by our MD after a private, free consultation. This guide covers what the OMG-Shot is, why women ask about it, what a visit looks like from start to finish, how recovery goes, who it may and may not suit, and what the research does and doesn’t show yet. Our aim is simple: by the time you sit down with us, you should already know the right questions to ask.
What Is the OMG-Shot?
The OMG-Shot is our PRP injection for intimate areas. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is made from your own blood. We draw a small amount of blood and spin it in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. That PRP is then placed into the vaginal and vulvar tissue.
Because the PRP comes from your own blood, it is prepared fresh during the same visit. Everything happens in one appointment, in a private room at our Newport Beach office.
One thing we want to say clearly from the start: results vary from person to person, and no result can be promised. Research on PRP for intimate concerns is still limited, and we would rather you hear that from us up front than be surprised later.
Why Women Ask About the OMG-Shot
Women most often come to us about the OMG-Shot because of:
- Vaginal dryness or discomfort
- Changes after childbirth
- Changes that come with menopause
- Discomfort during sex
At your consultation, we talk through which of these the OMG-Shot may suit, based on your history and goals.
You’re Not the Only One Asking
If you’ve been putting off this conversation, you’re in good company. Many women live with dryness or discomfort for a long time because it feels too personal to raise, or because they assume it’s simply part of getting older or having children. Some have mentioned it at a routine appointment and felt brushed off. Others aren’t sure which kind of doctor to ask.
We see these concerns as a normal part of women’s health, not something to be embarrassed about. You can describe things in your own words, at your own pace, and we’ll help you sort out what may be going on and which options are worth a closer look.
What Is and Isn’t Established
Some women ask whether the OMG-Shot can help with sexual sensation, arousal, or bladder leakage. Using PRP for these concerns is off-label, and its benefit for them is not established. We’ll tell you plainly what is and isn’t known, so you can decide with clear eyes.
Bladder leakage deserves its own note. We don’t offer the OMG-Shot as a leakage treatment. If leaks when you laugh, sneeze, or exercise are your main concern, Emsella is a separate pelvic floor option, and our Emsella guide explains how it works.
Many women tell us they’re glad they came in for the treatment. Even so, we never want anyone to book because of a promise. You deserve an honest conversation first.
How the OMG-Shot Works

A visit takes about 1 hour, including the blood draw. Here is how that hour usually unfolds.
1. Blood Draw
We draw a small amount of blood from your arm, much like a routine lab test.
2. Preparing the PRP
Your blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate the platelet-rich plasma from the rest of the sample. This happens during the same visit, while you relax.
3. Numbing
Comfort matters, especially for a treatment in such a sensitive area. We offer topical numbing, Pro-Nox, and lidocaine. We’ll talk through these options before we begin, so you know what to expect.
4. Injection
Once you’re numb, the PRP is injected into the vaginal and vulvar tissue with a fine needle. The injections themselves take a short time. You may feel pressure or a brief sting with each one.
The OMG-Shot at a Glance
Before we get into the consultation, here is a quick summary of what the OMG-Shot is, and what it isn’t.
What it is:
- An in-office PRP injection for intimate areas
- Made from your own blood, prepared during the same visit
- Given by our MD after a free, private consultation
- About 1 hour from start to finish, including the blood draw
- A same-day return to your normal routine for most women
What it isn’t:
- A treatment for bladder leakage (that’s where Emsella comes in)
- An established treatment for sensation or arousal (those uses are off-label)
- A treatment with a fixed results timeline
- A replacement for your regular checkups with your own doctor or OB-GYN
Your Free, Private Consultation

Every OMG-Shot starts with a free consultation. It takes place in a private room, and you can ask anything without feeling rushed. Intimate concerns can be hard to put into words, so we keep these conversations relaxed, respectful, and judgment-free.
At your consultation, we will:
- Talk through your concerns and what you hope will change
- Review your health history and medications
- Explain what is and isn’t known about PRP for intimate concerns
- Discuss whether the OMG-Shot, another option, or a combination may suit you
- Go over planning and financing, so there are no surprises
Please bring a list of your medications and supplements. Some, such as blood thinners, aspirin, or NSAIDs, matter for this treatment (more on that below).
Questions Worth Asking
It can help to jot down a few questions before you come in. Women often ask us:
- Which of my concerns might the OMG-Shot suit, and which might it not?
- What does the research show so far, and where is it still limited?
- Which comfort options will you use, and what will I feel?
- Do any of my medications or supplements need attention first?
- What should I avoid afterward, and for how long?
- Would Morpheus8V, hormone therapy, or Emsella make more sense for me, either instead of or alongside the OMG-Shot?
- How will we decide whether I need more than one session?
There are no wrong questions here. If something is on your mind, ask it.
If You’ve Recently Had a Baby
Women often ask about the OMG-Shot after childbirth. We’ll review your history, including how long it has been since you gave birth, before suggesting a plan.
If You’re in Perimenopause or Menopause
Menopause is another stage when women often ask about the OMG-Shot. Because dryness and comfort can be tied to hormones, we may also talk with you about hormone therapy for women if it fits your goals and health history.
Before Your Treatment
A few simple steps help your visit go smoothly:
- Medications: Only pause blood thinners, aspirin, or NSAIDs if your doctor says it’s OK. Never stop a prescribed medication on your own.
- Timing: Please don’t book during your period.
- Infections: Please don’t book while you have an active infection. If you develop one before your appointment, call us to reschedule.
Planning your day: Set aside about an hour for the visit itself. Since most women return to their normal routine the same day, you usually don’t need to take extra time off. Because sex, intense exercise, and intravaginal products are on hold for 24 to 48 hours afterward, it helps to pick a date with those in mind.
Recovery and Aftercare
Most women return to their normal routine the same day. For the next 24 to 48 hours, there are a few things to skip.
For 24 to 48 hours after treatment, avoid:
- Sex
- Intense exercise
- Intravaginal products
What’s normal: Spotting or sensitivity can last 1 to 2 days. Possible side effects include temporary spotting, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection site or the blood-draw site on your arm.
We’ll send you home with written aftercare instructions, so you don’t have to remember everything from the visit.
When to call us: If you have heavy bleeding, pain that gets worse instead of better, fever, unusual discharge, or any other sign of infection, call us at 949-503-9621 so we can check in with you.
Sessions and Results
Any changes after the OMG-Shot are gradual, and there’s no set timeline. We’d rather be clear about that than give you a date to watch for.
- Most people start with 1 session.
- Some may need more.
- Touch-ups are available as needed.
Results vary from person to person, and no result can be promised. At your follow-up conversations, we’ll talk about how you’re feeling and whether anything else makes sense.
Is the OMG-Shot Right for You?
The OMG-Shot may be worth discussing if you have intimate-area concerns and want to understand all of your options, including what is and isn’t known about PRP. It isn’t for everyone.
Who May Not Be a Candidate
The OMG-Shot may not be a fit if you:
- Have an active vaginal infection or open sores
- Are pregnant or nursing
- Have a platelet disorder
- Have an autoimmune condition that affects how you recover
- Take certain blood thinners (which may need a pause, only with your doctor’s OK)
We review your full health history at your consultation. If your symptoms are new, sudden, or painful, or you’ve had bleeding you didn’t expect, those deserve a medical evaluation first, and we’ll make sure you get it before any treatment. The OMG-Shot also doesn’t replace your regular checkups and screenings with your own doctor or OB-GYN.
How the OMG-Shot Fits With Other Women’s Wellness Options
The OMG-Shot can be paired with other services we offer for women, and in particular you can ask about Morpheus8V and hormone therapy for women. Every option works differently, so here is a quick, side-by-side look based on each treatment’s own page:
| Your question | Option to ask about | How it works |
|---|---|---|
| A treatment made from my own blood for intimate concerns | OMG-Shot | PRP injected into vaginal and vulvar tissue; about 1 hour including the blood draw; most start with 1 session |
| A non-surgical, energy-based option for intimate areas | Morpheus8V | Radiofrequency microneedling for internal and external areas; about 30 minutes; usually a series of 3 sessions about 4 to 6 weeks apart |
| Dryness or comfort changes tied to perimenopause or menopause | Hormone therapy for women | A prescribed plan built on your health review and labs |
| Bladder leaks or pelvic floor weakness | Emsella | A separate, fully clothed pelvic floor treatment; FDA-cleared for the treatment of urinary incontinence |
You don’t need to figure out the right mix on your own. Tell us what’s bothering you, and we’ll walk through which option, or which combination, makes sense for your body and your goals. And if the honest answer is that something else would serve you better, we’ll say so.
Planning and Financing
Your consultation is free, and we’ll go over planning with you up front, so you know what your plan includes before you decide anything.
Financing is available through PatientFi, CareCredit, and Cherry.
