Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) in Newport Beach
Mini, Full & Extended Arm Lifts for Loose Upper-Arm Skin
An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin, and often some fat, from the upper arms for a smoother, firmer contour. At Beyond Restore in Newport Beach, we offer mini, full and extended arm lifts.
Performed by Dr. Andrew Jarminski, a fellowship-trained cosmetic surgeon.
It starts with a free consultation.
What Is an Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)?
Loose skin on the upper arms often stays after weight loss or appears with age, and exercise alone does not tighten stretched skin. A brachioplasty removes that extra skin through an incision and tightens the tissue that remains. Liposuction, including VASER, can be added to refine the shape when Dr. Jarminski recommends it.
Who Is a Candidate for an Arm Lift?
You may be a candidate for an arm lift if you are:
- A person with loose or hanging skin on the upper arms
- At a stable weight, including after major weight loss or GLP-1 weight loss
- A non-smoker, or willing to stop before and after surgery
- In good general health with realistic expectations
How Brachioplasty Works
The procedure is done awake, with Pro-Nox and tumescent local anesthesia. Dr. Jarminski removes excess skin through an incision placed where it is less visible when the arms are at the sides, usually along the inner upper arm, then closes the skin. No drains are used. An arm lift takes about 4 hours, and you go home the same day.
Types of Arm Lifts
| Version | Generally for | Incision |
|---|---|---|
| Mini arm lift | Mild looseness near the underarm | Short, in the underarm area |
| Full arm lift | Loose skin from underarm toward elbow | Along the inner upper arm |
| Extended arm lift | Looseness reaching the side chest | Inner arm continuing toward the side chest |
Dr. Jarminski recommends a version at the consultation.

Results Timeline
Swelling eases during recovery and the contour continues to settle over the following months. Results can change with weight changes and aging.
Risks
Like any surgery: bleeding, infection, swelling, a visible scar, changes in sensation, asymmetry, fluid collection and the possible need for a revision. Dr. Jarminski reviews these at the consultation.
Arm Lift vs Alternatives
Non-surgical and less invasive options do not give the same results as an arm lift, because they do not remove loose skin. HD Liposuction removes fat; Renuvion tightens tissue; Morpheus8 Body may suit milder laxity.
Arm Lift (Brachioplasty) Questions Answered
What is the difference between an arm lift and arm liposuction?
Liposuction removes fat. An arm lift removes excess skin and can be combined with liposuction or VASER when Dr. Jarminski recommends it.
Will there be a scar?
Yes. Any arm lift leaves a scar. The incision is placed where it is less visible when the arms are at the sides, usually along the inner upper arm, and you receive scar care instructions.
Am I awake during an arm lift?
Yes. The procedure is done awake, with Pro-Nox and tumescent local anesthesia. It takes about 4 hours, and you go home the same day.
How long is recovery?
Most people return to work in about 14 days and to exercise in about 6 weeks. No drains are used, and you wear a compression garment. Your own recovery may differ.
Can I combine an arm lift with other procedures?
Yes. An arm lift can be combined with liposuction or VASER, Renuvion, a tummy tuck or a breast lift. Dr. Jarminski advises what fits your goals.
Are there non-surgical alternatives?
Renuvion, HD Liposuction and Morpheus8 Body are options, but they do not give the same results as surgery because they do not remove loose skin.
How much does an arm lift cost?
Pricing is given at your free consultation because every plan is different. Financing is available through PatientFi, CareCredit and Cherry.
Does insurance cover an arm lift?
Beyond Restore does not bill insurance. Financing is available.
