What Is a Back Lift?
After major weight loss, or with age, the skin of the upper back can loosen and fold into rolls around the bra strap. Exercise alone does not tighten stretched skin, and liposuction removes fat but not loose skin. A back lift removes the excess skin through an incision along the bra line, then tightens and closes the tissue for a smoother back. Results Timeline
Swelling eases during recovery and the contour continues to settle over the following months. The scar fades gradually over time. Results can change with weight changes and aging.
Risks
Like any surgery: bleeding, infection, swelling, a visible scar, changes in sensation, asymmetry, fluid collection, wound separation, blood clots and the possible need for a revision. Dr. Jarminski reviews these at the consultation.
